Robert Morris Suffers 4-0 Setback at Bemidji State

Bemidji, Minn. ? The Robert Morris University men's ice hockey team fell, 4-0, to Bemidji State Saturday night in a College Hockey America contest. With the loss the Colonials fall to 10-9-3 overall and to 5-3-2 in CHA action. The Beavers improve to 12-11-3 overall and to 9-2-3 in CHA play.

Matt Francis got the Beavers rolling with a four-on-four goal with just five seconds left in the first period. Tyler Lehrke and David Deterding picked up assists on the play. Graham McNanamin made the score, 2-0, at the 12:41 mark of the second period with Matt Reed and Tyler Scofield adding assists on the play.

The Beavers added a pair of power-play goals in the third period giving them a 4-0 victory. The first of which came when Matt Pope scored his third goal of the weekend, beating senior goalie Christian Boucher (Orleans, Ontario / Cumberland Grads) for his 10th goal of the season. Brandon Marino tallied the assist in the play. Travis Winter scored the games final goal with 1:57 left in the third frame. Ian Lowe and Cody Bostock recorded assists on the play.

For the game, the Colonials were outshot 41-19 and went 0-for-5 on the power-play. The Beavers were able to score a pair of power-play goals on nine chances.

Boucher made 37 saves, while Matt Climie stopped all 19 shots he faced.

The Colonials return to action on Tuesday, Jan. 29 when they host Princeton at 7:35 p.m.

Notes: The Colonials combined for 65 penalty minutes, including four 10-minute misconducts ... Kyle Frieday, Rob Cowan, Jeff Gilbert and Brett Hopfe all picked up the misconduct penalties.
