Box Score

Newark, Del. ? The Robert Morris University men's lacrosse team dropped its seventh straight decision Saturday afternoon, falling to the University of Delaware, 20-5, in a Colonial Athletic Association match-up at Rullo Field in Newark, Del.

Senior Andrew Watt (Kitchener, Ontario / Grand River Collegiate), who has now scored in seven straight games, led the offense with a goal and an assist. Four other Colonials chipped in goals including senior Michael Fleming (Sarnia, Ontario / St. Christopher), junior Dan Kerch (Chesterfield, Mo. / DeSmet) and freshmen Trevor Moore (Port Coquitlam,  B.C. / Western Reserve Academy) and Corbyn Tao-Brambleby (Coquitlam, B.C. / Western Reserve Academy).

The Colonials (4-10, 0-5 CAA) came out strong in the opening minutes, scoring the first goal to take a 1-0 lead. Tao-Brambleby picked up his 15th of the season when he took a pass from senior Brendan Arthur (Kansas City, Mo. / Rockhurst) and beat netminder Tom Scherr on a one-on-one fast-break opportunity at the 12:20 mark. Despite giving up the early goal, Scherr played outstanding for the Blue Hens allowing just three goals and stopping 12 shots in 45 minutes worth of work.

Delaware quickly countered though, scoring two goals to round out the first quarter and adding five more in the second before RMU's Fleming answered back with an unassisted marker at 3:01. The Blue Hens tacked in another goal to take an 8-2 lead into halftime.

The Blue Hens outscored the Colonials, 12-3, in the second half, adding six apiece in the third and fourth quarters. Moore knocked home his 15th of the season at 4:27 in the third while Watt and Kerch tallied back-to-back with less than seven minutes to play in the fourth.

Senior John Kennedy (Rockville Centre, N.Y. / South Side) suffered his second loss of the season, making eight saves and allowing seven goals in 25:51. Sophomore Sal Barcia (West Islip, N.Y. / West Islip) finished the game with four stops. Delaware outshot the Colonials, 45-29.

Robert Morris returns home this weekend as the Colonials host #20 Hofstra on Saturday, April 26 at 12:00 p.m.
