RMU Grabs Hard-Fought Win Over Quinnipiac, 69-64

Moon Township, Pa. - Junior forward Rob Robinson (Waldorf, Md. / Globe Institute of Technology) recorded his first career double-double with 22 points and 14 rebounds, including a tip-in dunk with 1:57 to play, to help propel the Robert Morris University men's basketball team to a 69-64 win over Quinnipiac Saturday night at the Charles L. Rutty would pull the Bobcats within 66-64 by hitting the front end of a pair of free throws at the 1:09 mark of the second half, but off his miss Robinson came down with the rebound. After an RMU turnover and consecutive timeouts by Quinnipiac, James Feldeine missed a jumper with 23 seconds to play, with junior forward Dallas Green (Indianapolis, Indiana / Northwest) grabbing the carom.

Green dished the ball off to senior guard Bateko Francisco (Paris, France / Fort Scott J.C.), who was fouled by Rutty. Francisco hit the front end of a pair of free throws to give the Colonials a 67-64 lead with 18 seconds to play, and after another timeout by the Bobcats with 12 seconds left, Feldeine missed a three-pointer. Chappell helped seal the win with a pair of free throws with three seconds left.

Robert Morris held a 34-33 lead entering the second half and quickly stretched its lead to six on a pair of occasions early after the break, but back-to-back three-pointers from Feldeine gave Quinnipiac a 46-45 advantage with 13:50 remaining. Jeremy Baker would convert a layup to push the lead to 48-45 for the Bobcats, but a 10-3 spurt by Robert Morris gave the Colonials a 55-51 advantage.

Quinnipiac scored five straight points to go back in front, 56-55, but Chappell's three-pointer with 5:55 to play gave the Colonials a 60-56 lead. The Bobcats answered by scoring seven straight points to go back in front, 63-60, before RMU's final push.
