Mercatoris (Brookville, Pa. / Brookville) and the Robert Morris University top the individual and team leaderboard at the Bucknell Men's Invitational after the first two rounds of the three-round event. Mercatoris holds a two-stroke lead sitting at even par through two rounds while the team is sitting four strokes ahead of host Bucknell.
The team turned in a five-over par 285 team score in the second round, shaving 14 strokes off their opening round 299 for a total of 584. The Bison sit at 588 while Colgate sits in third at 593. Fordham is fourth (594) followed by Laval (595), Lafayette (598), Lehigh (600), Saint Peter's (604), Fairleigh Dickinson (606), Loyola and Bucknell "Blue" (613), Ottawa (615) and Messiah (623).
Mercatoris opened the event with one-over par round of 71 followed by one-under score of 69 in the second round for a 140 total. His second round score was matched by sophomore Brock Pompeani (Aliquippa, Pa. / Hopewell) who combined his 69 with a first round 77 and sits in a tie for eighth overall at the par-70, 6,257-yard layout at Bucknell University Golf Course.
Sophomore Brandon Pompeani (Aliquippa, Pa. / Hopewell) turned in rounds of 76 and 74 to put himself in a tie for 27th position with a 150 score. Freshman Sam Migdal (Ballwin, Mo. / Desmet Jesuit) recovered from his opening round 79 to shoot 73 during his second 18 holes putting himself into a tie for 34th. Sophomore Donny Lewis (Wexford, Pa. / North Allegheny) sits in a tie for 37th (75-78=153).
