RMU Lands 52 on NEC Winter Academic Honor Roll

Moon Township, Pa. - A total of 52 of Robert Morris University student-athletes were named to the 2011 Northeast Conference Winter Academic Honor Roll Wednesday, including 17 that were named to the 2011 NEC Winter Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll.

To be eligible for the academic honor roll, a student-athlete that participates in a winter sport must own a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or better. Likewise, to be named to the commissioner's honor roll, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or better.

Winter sports recognized by the NEC include men's and women's basketball, men's and women's indoor track & field, women's bowling and women's swimming & diving. 

For RMU, 12 student-athletes from the women's indoor track & field team, four from the men's indoor track & field squad and one from the men's basketball team earned a spot on the  the 2011 NEC Winter Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll.

The Colonial women's indoor track & field squad features five student-athletes that own perfect 4.00 grade point averages. Sophomores Taylor Crawford (Woodbury, Pa. / Northern Bradford) and Kristie Domis (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Baldwin) have each posted 4.00 GPA's, with Crawford studying middle level education and Domis a nursing major.  

Freshmen Jenny Byerly (Lewisburg, Pa. / Lewisburg), Megan Herbstritt (Saint Mary's, Pa. / Saint Mary's) and Devon Peace (Weston Mills, N.Y. / Portville Central) also each own 4.00 GPA's for the women's indoor track & field squad. Byerly is a nuclear medicine technology major, Herbstritt studies sport management and Peace is an accounting major. 

For the Colonial men's indoor track & field squad, freshman Chantz Wain (Finleyville, Pa. / Thomas Jefferson) owns a perfect 4.00 grade point average as a computer information systems major.

Also earning spots on the NEC 2011 Winter Commissioner's Honor Roll from the men's indoor track & field squad are freshmen Nicolas Gentile (Sarver, Pa. / Freeport), Kyle Olslund (Arnold, Md. / Old Mill) and Dorian Rumble (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Penn Hills).

Gentile owns a 3.87 GPA as a biology major, Olslund studies social science and owns a 3.80 grade point average and Rumble is a computer information systems major who owns a 3.81 GPA.

For the RMU men's basketball team, sophomore guard Treadwell Lewis (Shelton, Conn. / Christian Heritage) owns a 3.94 GPA as an undeclared business major.
