Moon Township, Pa. - Redshirt senior running back Jamar Cromwell (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Schenley) of the Robert Morris University football team has been awarded with the inaugural Tim Hall Memorial Scholarship, it was announced Thursday.

A transfer from Kent State, Cromwell enters the 2011 campaign as the leading candidate to start at fullback for the Colonials. In two seasons for Robert Morris, Cromwell has appeared in 19 games, rushing 19 times for 78 yards (4.1 yards per carry) and one touchdown while owning two receptions for 20 yards.

Cromwell has also been an important part of the special teams unit at Robert Morris, compiling four tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery for the Colonials over the last two years.

The Tim Hall Memorial Scholarship was created in 2001 to honor the life and legacy of the former RMU running back. A native of Kansas City, Mo., Hall came to Robert Morris for its inaugural season in 1994 from Kemper Military School.

From RMU's inaugural season in 1994 until being drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the sixth round (183rd player overall) of the 1996 NFL Draft, Hall entered his name beside virtually every Robert Morris rushing record, some of which still stand today. Hall still owns Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) records for average yards per carry in a season (8.7 in 1994) and career (7.4).

In 1997, Hall led the Raiders in yards per carry average with 5.2 and was second in rushing yards to Napolean Kaufman. Tragically, Hall was shot and killed in Kansas City Sept. 30, 1998, at the age of 24. Robert Morris wore his retired jersey number (45) on its helmets the remainder of the 1998 season, and he was inducted into the RMU Athletic Hall of Fame Nov. 14, 1998.

In addition to his football skills, Hall was admired and respected by all those who came in contact with him. Friends of Hall created the scholarship.
