Trevor Lewis Signs with ECHL?s Reading Royals

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. - July 11, 2012 - Colonials alum Trevor Lewis has signed with the Reading Royals of the ECHL, the organization announced today, making the 2011-12 Robert Morris men's hockey captain the 34th Colonial in the program's eight-year history to sign a professional contract.

The team's Offensive Player of the Year as a senior, Lewis finished tied for the team lead with 29 points (eight goals, 21 assists) in 2011-12 including eight points in RMU's first-round playoff series with American International - the program's first-ever playoff series win as well as the team's first-ever Atlantic Hockey Association playoff win. The Lititz, Pa., native was also a mainstay on Robert Morris' penalty killing lines that finished the year ranked first in the nation at .899 - the highest success rate in the NCAA since 2006-07.

Lewis finished his career as one of the best players to ever lace up a pair of skates at Robert Morris - ranking fourth in career assists with 53, fifth in career points with 83 and fifth in goals with 30. Lewis is also the all-time leader in games played at Robert Morris with 143 career appearances including 123 straight games to close out his career - another program record. The forward was also a member of the 2011-12 RMU senior class that set a program record with 53 career wins including several of the most significant wins in Colonial Hockey history.

On Monday, Reading announced an affiliation agreement with the Washington Capitals (NHL) and the Hershey Bears (AHL). In 2011-12, the Royals listed Colonial alumni Ryan Cruthers, Dave Cowan and Denny Urban on the team's roster.
