Colonials Drop Pair in Ohio to Open Spring

The Robert Morris University women's tennis team opened its 2013 spring campaign with a pair of matches in Dayton, Ohio, this past weekend.

The Colonials opened with a 7-0 setback to Dayton Friday, Jan. 25, before suffering a 7-0 loss at Wright State Saturday, Jan. 26.

The pair of losses drop RMU to 0-4 in dual matches in 2012-13.

At the No. 1 singles flight against the Flyers, junior Carolina Mourao Teixeira (Rio De Janeiro, Brazil) battled Sammi Hornbarger, winning the first set, 6-4, before falling in three sets, 7-5 and 7-5.

Against the Raiders, sophomore Kourtney Passero (Victor, N.Y. / Victor Central) fell at the No. 5 singles to Chelsea Girgash, 6-3 and 6-3.

Robert Morris continues its 2013 spring season with a pair of matches in Western New York, visiting St. Bonaventure Friday, Feb. 1, before traveling to Niagara Saturday, Feb. 2.
