Box Score

Moon Township, Pa. / North Athletic Complex – The Robert Morris University women's soccer team wrapped up the 2013 season with a 5-0 blowout of Sacred Heart in a Northeast Conference game at North Athletic Complex Sunday afternoon. Seniors Leah Prentice (Gaithersburg, Md. / Quince Orchard) and Johanna Kadam (Germantown, Md. / Northwest) performed remarkably in their swan song game. The two combined for three goals and two assists as RMU finished the year unbeaten at home, 4-0-4.

RMU (5-9-4, 1-4-3 NEC) got on the board in the sixth minute, counter-attacking with a through-ball from Kristie Hamilton (Allison Park, Pa. / Shaler) ahead to Prentice. Prentice, one-on-one with Sacred Heart keeper Sydney Judkins, shot low and right to tally her second marker of the year.

Less than 10 minutes later, Prentice took advantage of a nice set-up by Lauren Sulkowski (St. Catherines, Ontario / Holy Cross) and Kadam. Sulkowski found Kadam in the box with a short cross. Settling the ball, Kadam played it left to Prentice, who beat her defender before finding the upper left near corner from 12 yards out.

A quick counterstrike in the 21st minute led to the Colonials third goal when Lauren Pietrowski (Shillington, Pa. / Governor Mifflin) won a ball in the defensive third. She played it ahead to Prentice who quickly got the ball through the Pioneers defense to Hamilton. The sophomore beat the keeper left with a dribble, then found the right side netting.

The Colonials benefitted from a misplayed cross in the 34th minute. A ball into the box by Madison Kozlowski (Cranberry Township, Pa. / Seneca Valley) was whiffed on by Judkins. The bouncing ball was controlled by Antonia Grese (Moon Township, Pa. / Moon) and she chipped a defender for her third goal of the year.

Kadam capped off the scoring in the 66th minute, pouncing on a rebound after Judkins made the save on a shot by Brittany Rowe (Markham, Ontario / Milliken Mills).

Robert Morris junior goalie Becky Schoenecker (Cheswick, Pa. / Fox Chapel) made seven saves for her second consecutive shutout. She finished the season without allowing a goal in her final 256:57 in net.
