Between the pipes, sophomore Tommy Burke has started 11 games to earn a 6-1-4 record with a 2.38 goals-against average and a .914 save percentage.
When the puck drops on the Three Rivers Classic, there will be one familiar face in the form of semifinal foe and in-state rival Penn State. Â The Colonials' opponent in the second day of competition will be a new one as RMU has never faced either Boston College or Bowling Green.
In it for the Long Haul
Returning from the holiday break, Robert Morris will kick off ten consecutive weeks of competition with the Three Rivers Classic starting this weekend. Â Over the ten weeks, the Colonials will play 20 games, nine of which will be on the road with the remaining 11 contests at home.
Lynch Leading the Way
Sophomore forward
Zac Lynch currently has the hot hand for Robert Morris, scoring in the four most-recent games for the Colonials. Â During the streak, Lynch has also recorded three assists to give him seven points in those four games. Â Lynch also has a team-high six multi-point games this season.
Making the Grade
With the fall semester concluded, all 26 student-athletes on the roster earned at least a 3.00 grade-point average, including three players with a perfect 4.00 GPA. Â The team's cumulative 3.68 GPA was the highest of any semester in the ten-year history of the program.
Everybody Making a Point
Every RMU skater that has dressed for a game this season has recorded a point. Â Freshman goaltender
Brandon Lane also joins the list after earning an assist on Nov. 16 in his first-career start at Air Force.
Conference Contributers
A trio of Colonials -
Andrew Blazek,
Jeff Jones, and
Evan Moore - have produced all of their points in conference action. Â Blazek has produced all four of his assists in AHA play while Jones has one goal and four assists and Moore has contributed two goals and an assist.
Third Period Scoring
Robert Morris has scored a third-period goal in the four previous games. Â This season, the Colonials have netted a goal in the final frame in all but three of the team's 14 games this season.
Winning with Special Teams
In victories this season, Robert Morris' power play has clicked at 25.0 percent (3/12) while its penalty kill has allowed just one goal while successfully killing 83.3 (5/6) percent of the penalties committed. Â In losses, the Colonials' power play has been at 16.3 percent (8/49) and their penalty kill opperating at 64.5 percent (31/48).
Firing Squad
RMU has averaged 34.86 shots on goal per game this season. Â The number ranks the Colonials first in the AHA and sixth nationally. Â
Zac Lynch leads the team with 55 shots on goal, the fourth most by an individual in Atlantic Hockey.
Assisting the Team
Prior to the beginning of the season, head coach
Derek Schooley announced that the Assistant Captain honors would be awarded on a monthly basis. Â For the month of October, senior defenseman
Evan Renwick held the honor before is was passed along to the current assistant, junior forward
David Rigatti for the month of November. Â Rigatti kept the honor for the month of December as junior forward
