Daytona Beach, Fla. / LPGA International - Senior Brock Pompeani (Aliquippa, Pa. / Hopewell) surged from ninth place to first place in
the final round of play at the Lonnie Barton Invitational at the LPGA
International Legends Course in Daytona Beach, Fla. The Colonials finished in third
place at the 36-hole event.
Pompeani opened play with an 80, but found five strokes
Tuesday to surge into first place with a final round 75. The victory is the third of Pompeani's career, one shy of the RMU career record of four held by C.G. Mercatoris (2007-11).
Freshman Garrett Browning (Imperial, Pa. / West Allegheny) tied for seventh with scores of 80
and 79 over the first 36 holes.Senior Brandon Pompeani (Aliquippa, Pa. / Hopewell) cut six
strokes off his first round score to card an 81 Tuesday. Paired with his 87,
that puthim in a tie for 17th with freshman teammate Dan Maier (Irwin, Pa. /
Penn Trafford). Maier shot 85 and 83.
Senior Max Cahn (Nyack, N.Y. / Nyack) fired an 89 in
each of the rounds to put himself into 22nd position overall. Playing
as an individual, sophomore Matt Gurska (Hermitage, Pa. / Kennedy Catholic) cut
10 strokes from his first 88 with a 78 to move into a tie for 13th.
