Littlestown, Pa. / Quail Valley G.C. – The Robert Morris University men's golf team is tied for sixth after the first two rounds of the three-round Mount St. Mary's Spring Invitational. Seniors Brock Pompeani (Aliquippa, Pa. / Hopewell) and Brandon Pompeani (Aliquippa, Pa. / Hopewell) find themselves at the top of the Colonials standings.
Brandon Pompeani started the event out with an even-par 72 at the 7,027-yard layout at Quail Valley Golf Course in Littlestown, Pa. That score was one stroke off his career-best score and had him in a tie for seventh before he shot a second round 80. He is currently 24th. Brock Pompeani was steadier with a 76 and a 74, moving from 28th after the first round to 19th following the second 18 holes of Monday.
Freshman Matt Gurska (Hermitage, Pa. / Kennedy Catholic) sits 36th overall after shot scores of 76 and 78. Senior Kyle Peters (Charleston, S.C. / James Island) had a career-best 75 in the first round of action, finding himself in 19th. He is 36th after two rounds following a 79 in the second 18 holes. Freshman Dan Maier (Irwin, Pa. / Penn Trafford) opened play with a 74 before finding five strokes in round two, carding a 79. He is tied for 55th.
