Grasonville, Md. / Prospect Bay C.C. – The Robert Morris University men's golf team is 22nd after 36 holes of play at the Whiting-Turner Towson Invitational being played at the par-72 course of Prospect bay Country Club. Eighteen holes remain in the three-round event.
Freshman Matt Gurska (Hermitage, Pa. / Kennedy Catholic) posted a second-round 82 and now stands 54th overall with a 158 total. He posted a team-low 76 in Sunday's round.
Senior Brock Pompeani (Aliquippa, Pa. / Hopewell) produced the team's best score in round two. He fired an 80, his second consecutive eight-over par round of the event and is two strokes back of Gurska in 68th. Classmate Brandon Pompeani (Aliquippa, Pa. / Hopewell) came home in 81 strokes Monday, three less than he needed in round one.
Freshman Garrett Browning (Imperial, Pa. / West Allegheny) found three strokes in the second round to card and 83 while sophomore Ryan Prokay (Grove City, Pa. / Grove City) used 87 strokes to round the course Monday.
Play in the 54-hole event wraps up Tuesday.
