Red Flash Hand Colonials 6-1 Setback

The Robert Morris University women's tennis team wrapped up a five-match homestand at the North Athletic Complex Tuesday with a 6-1 loss to fellow Northeast Conference foe Saint Francis U.

The Colonials finished 2-3 on their homestand after splitting a pair of matches earlier in the week, falling to Mount St. Mary's, 5-2, Sunday afternoon before posting a 6-0 win over Coppin State Monday.

RMU owns an overall record of 3-17 so far on the 2012-13 campaign in dual matches.

Picking up the lone victory against the Red Flash was senior Isabella Novella (Rio De Janeiro, Brazil), who earned a 6-2 and 6-1 victory over Camila Diaz at the No. 6 singles flight.

In the win over the Eagles, Robert Morris earned victories at each of the six singles matches, including one by forfeit.

Novella posted a 6-0, 6-1 win over Jennifer Mitchell at No. 4, while junior Carolina Mourao-Teixeira (Rio De Janeiro, Brazil) defeated Katherine Chisholm, 6-0 and 6-0, at the No. 1 singles flight.

Freshman Marie-Sophie Heine (Wanze, Belgium) earned a 6-0 and 6-2 win over Ashley Milo at the No. 2 singles flight against Coppin State, while freshman Dounia Zinbi (Halle, Belgium) knocked off Miranda Taylor, 6-2 and 6-0, at No. 3.

Against the Mount Sunday, Novella defeated Jenny Smith, 6-1 and 6-1, for the only singles victory for the Colonials.

Robert Morris is next in action Wednesday, April 17, with a 3:00 p.m. match at Bucknell in Lewisburg, Pa.
