Moon Township, Pa. – Dec. 31, 2008– Former Robert Morris University Colonial Andrew Watt was one of six new players earning a spot on the Minnesota Swarm's roster, who is a member of the National Lacrosse League. The Colonial standout was drafted by the league, along with former teammate Michael Flemming, earlier this year. His rookie debut will take place on Saturday, Jan. 3 when the Swarm will travel to Portland to take on the LumberJax.
Watt, who will soon compete with the top lacrosse players from around the nation, was a notable threat in the Colonial Athletic Association during his four years at Robert Morris. Throughout his career, he earned a total of 121 points, 86 goals and 35 assists. His point total and goal total are first in the Colonial career record books and he his ranked second in assists. Prior to being drafted by the Minnesota Swarm, Watt competed with the Kodiaks in the Major Series Lacrosse League.
The Robert Morris men's lacrosse team is getting ready to embark on the program's fifth season. The Colonials immediately dive in to challenging competition as they travel to Chapel Hill, N.C. to take on North Carolina for their first contest on Feb. 7, 2009. North Carolina ended their season last year ranked ninth in the USILA Division I Coaches Poll.
