About Robert Morris
- For the second-consecutive season, the fifth-seeded Robert Morris University men's ice hockey team will travel to Connecticut to take on the fourth-seeded UConn Huskies in the AHA Quarterfinals.
- The Colonials will travel to Storrs, Conn. for the second time this season for the best-of-three series that begins on Friday, March 14.
- Last weekend, RMU participated in the first round of the AHA Playoffs, hosting Army and needing three games to knock off the Black Knights - 8-4, 2-4, 3-1.
- The Colonials finished the regular season with an overall record of 13-16-5 while going 13-9-5 in AHA action.
- Junior forward Cody Wydo leads Robert Morris with 25 goals and 45 points while playing in each of RMU's 34 regular-season contests.
- Sophomore forward Zac Lynch paces Robert Morris with 23 assists during the 2013/14 campaign.
- Sophomore goaltender Terry Shafer has seen action in all but two of Robert Morris' 37 games this season, making 31 starts while earning a record of 14-15-5 with a 3.02 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage.

Against Connecticut
- Robert Morris and Connecticut have already played twice this season, with the two teams splitting a two-game series in January after the Huskies won 5-1 followed by a RMU win, 6-1.
- RMU holds the advantage in the all-time series, 6-4-0, and have split the six games played at UConn, 3-3-0..
- When going up against the Huskies, junior forward Cody Wydo leads all active Colonials in goals and points with seven goals and ten points in eight games against Connecticut.
- Sophomore goaltender Terry Shafer has played in two games against the Huskies, going 1-1-0 with a 2.62 goals-against average and a .893 save percentage.

Scouting the Huskies
- Connecticut finished the regular season with an overall record of 18-12-4 and a conference record of 15-9-3.
- Senior forward Billy Latta leads Connecticut with 13 goals and is tied for the team lead with 26 points.
- Senior forward Brant Harris also has 26 points to tie him with Latta for the team lead while Harris also has 15 assists, a number that is the most for the Huskies along with senior forward Jordan Sims' 15 assists.
- Senior goaltender Matt Grogan has started 24 of Connecticut's 34 games this season, earning a record of 10-11-2 with a 2.45 goals-against average and an .924 save percentage.
- Freshman goaltender Robby Nichols has earned eight wins for UConn in ten starts, compiling a record of 8-1-2 with a 1.81 goals-against average and a .942 save percentage.

Regular Season AHA Awards
Announced by the conference on Thursday, two Colonials earned regular season honors from the AHA.  Junior forward Cody Wydo was named to the All-AHA First Team while sophomore goaltender Terry Shafer was named to the All-AHA Third Team.

Jacklin the First Round Player of the Week
After a series in which he led Robert Morris with three goals and five points, junior forward Scott Jacklin was named the AHA Player of the Week as RMU survived a three-game series against Army and moved on to face Connecticut in the quarterfinals.
Quarterfinal Questions
Robert Morris has been swept in each of its two previous visits to the AHA Quarterfinals.  Last sesaon, RMU was swept in two games by Connecticut, 4-1 and 4-3.  Two seasons ago, the Colonials fell to Niagara in two games, 3-0 and 2-1.

Izyk is Clutch
Replacing Terry Shafer in the decisive third game of the AHA First Round, freshman goaltender Dalton Izyk stopped all 15 shots he faced in his first home appearance to earn his first NCAA victory that allowed the Colonials to advance to the AHA Quarterfinals.

Wydo Breaks Program Record
With his goal on March 1 in the 5-2 loss against Mercyhurst, junior forward Cody Wydo set a new single-season record for goals scored with his 23rd marker of the season.  Wydo surpassed the old mark of 22 set by Ryan Cruthers during the 2007-08 season and is the only player in the ten-year program history to have multiple 20+-goal seasons (21 goals in the 2012-13 campaign as a sophomore).  Wydo has improved his record, now having scored 25 goals this season.

Jacklin Thrives since February
Since the month of February, junior forward Scott Jacklin led Robert Morris with 18 points in 12 games.  Jacklin's 18 points ranked him first in Atlantic Hockey and tied for the most in the NCAA since the second month of the year.

Shafer Winning Over the New Year
In 2014, sophomore goaltender Terry Shafer leads the NCAA with 12 victories.  Shafer holds a 12-5-3 record with a 2.66 goals-against average and a .914 save percentage in the second half of the season.

100 for Jacklin as a Junior
Junior forward Scott Jacklin skated in his 100th game as a Colonial in Saturday night's contest against Army.  In his 100th game, Jacklin recorded a pair of goals and now has 33 goals and 36 assists for 69 points in 101 career games.
Scoring in the New Year
Since 2014 began, RMU has scored 80 goals in 21 games, the highest goal total in the NCAA during that timeframe.  The Colonials also hold the top spots in assists (137), points (217), plus/minus (+30), shots on goal (777), and faceoffs won (761) during the calendar year.
Winning with the Penalty Kill
In its 15 victories this season, Robert Morris has allowed just four power-play goals to its opponents.  The Colonials have killed off 51 of the 57 (89.5 percent) penalties they have committed.  The Colonials have won just one game in which they have allowed multiple power-play goals to their opponent.
