It took Robert Morris three tries, but the Colonials finally advanced to their first NCAA Men's Hockey Tournament after winning the AHA Championship last weekend. The previous two chances that RMU had to earn an automatic bid saw the team fall short in overtime contests in 2007 and 2009 while a member of the CHA.
National RecognitionFor the first time this season, RMU received votes in a national poll. In the most recent USCHO.com poll, the Colonials received 31 votes, placing them two spots outside of the top-20 in the nation.

Championship Player of the Week HonorsFor their performances in the final two games of the AHA Tournament,
Cody Wydo and
Dalton Izyk were honored by the AHA. Wydo was named the league's Player of the Week while Izyk was tabbed as the AHA Goaltender and Rookie of the Week.
A Hat Trick of Hat TricksWith his hat trick against Canisius in the AHA Championship, forward
Cody Wydo became the first skater in the NCAA this season to record three hat tricks. Wydo also netted three goals against Penn State on Nov. 1 and Nov. 8 against Canisius.
Izyk's PostseasonAfter coming in during game three of the AHA First Round, goaltender
Dalton Izyk has played in five of the seven postseason games for RMU. Izyk has put together a 5-0-0 record with one shutout and a 2.06 goals-against average to go with a .942 save percentage. Izyk's first collegiate win (March 9 vs. Army) and shutout (March 14 at Connecticut) came in the postseason.
Regular Season AHA HonorsTwo Colonials earned regular season honors from the AHA for their performance during the 2013/14 campaign. Junior forward
Cody Wydo was named to the All-AHA First Team while sophomore goaltender
Terry Shafer was named to the All-AHA Third Team.
Gibson Goes StreakingSophomore forward
Greg Gibson is currently on a five-game point streak in which he has recorded four goals and two assists for six points. During the streak, Gibson also earned AHA All-Tournament honors with three goals in the semifinal and championship games.
Linemates Firing on all CylindersLinemates
Zac Lynch and
Cody Wydo have shot themselves into the Robert Morris record book this season. Lynch has the program's single-season record for shots with 156 while Wydo trails him by five with 151 shots, the second-highest total in a single season.
