RMU Drops Non-Conference Game to No. 4 Maryland

Redshirt senior Taylor Graves extended his multi-goal streak to four games with two tallies this evening.

College Park, Md. – The Robert Morris University men's lacrosse team dropped a non-conference game to No. 4 Maryland, 19-6, this evening.

With the loss, Robert Morris (4-6, 1-3 NEC) fell to 3-16 all-time against nationally-ranked teams.

Redshirt senior Taylor Graves (Carlsbad, Calif. / Carlsbad) led the Colonials with two goals and an assist on the evening.

Maryland (9-1, 3-1 ACC) opened up the game with two goals, but RMU answered with a tally from junior Jacob Ruest (Cornwall, Ontario / The Hill Academy) off a pass from redshirt senior Eric Madigan (Ashburn, Va. / Sacred Heart University). The Terrapins picked up three more goals to extend their lead, but the Colonials ended the first quarter with the 14th goal of the season from freshman JonPatrik Kealey (Ottawa, Ontario / South Carleton).

Graves scored his first goal of the game to begin the second quarter and pull RMU within two, but Maryland responded with a 9-0 run to take a commanding lead.

The redshirt senior added his second goal to start the second half, while sophomores Eric Rankel (Downingtown, Pa. / Downingtown West) and Luke Laszkiewicz (Oshawa, Ontario / Westminster Prep) found the back of the net in the fourth quarter.

Senior Brian Bohn (Mars, Pa. / Seneca Valley) made six saves in the loss. He was replaced by junior Matt Bukovac (Ashburn, Va. / Briar Woods) to start the second half. Freshmen Brett Cass (Ottawa, Ontario / The Hill Academy) and Brian Czerwonka (Louisville, Ky. / Western Reserve Academy) saw their first collegiate action between the pipes during the final frame.

Senior Tyler Rankel (Downingtown, Pa. / Downingtown West) and sophomore Cory Berry (Easton, Md. / Easton) each caused two turnovers in the contest.

Robert Morris returns to Northeast Conference (NEC) play this weekend as the Colonials travel to Wagner this Saturday. The meeting with the Seahawks will start at 1:00 p.m. from Wagner College Stadium.
