Moon Township, Pa. Robert Morris University Director of Athletics Craig Coleman, M.D., announced Monday that Nelle Stahura has been named head rowing coach.

Stahura, a native of Butler, Pa., has spent the past four seasons as an assistant coach with the Colonials.

"We're very happy that Nelle has agreed to step up and assume control of our rowing program," Coleman said. "She's an outstanding coach and an even better individual who cares very deeply about her student-athletes. She has developed great expertise in the sport of rowing, and we're counting on her to lead us to greater heights in the future."

Stahura earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication from Robert Morris in 2007 and was a four-year letterwinner with the rowing team. She was named the program's Most Valuable Player (MVP) as a sophomore in 2004-05 and also served as team captain in 2006-07.

Robert Morris opens its 2015-16 season Saturday, Oct. 31, by taking part in the Head of the Occoquan in Fairfax Station, Va.
