Robert Morris Returns Home to Host Marquette

The Colonials and Golden Eagles square off for the second time in program history

Moon Township, Pa. – The Robert Morris University men's lacrosse team returns home after a two-game road swing to host the Marquette Golden Eagles in the Colonials' third non-conference tilt in seven days, on Saturday, March 11 at 12 p.m. in Joe Walton Stadium.
 
Robert Morris (4-2) saw a four-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday at Georgetown, but looks to bounce back in JWS where the Colonials are undefeated so far this season. Sophomore midfield Tyson Gibson notched a career-high three points on two goals and one assist against the Hoyas. Junior midfield Carter Yepsen posted a season-high two points with a goal and an assist. Sophomore goalkeeper Alex Heger made 13 saves. Marquette (2-2) enters the matchup following an 8-6 win over Detroit Mercy.

Marquette (2-2, 0-0 BIG EAST)

Robert Morris is 0-1 all time against Marquette after the Colonials and Golden Eagles squared off for the first time in Milwaukee, Wis., last season.
 
Scouting Marquette
Marquette enters Saturday's non-conference contest coming off a 1-1 weekend at the Midwest Lacrosse Classic. The Golden Eagles lost to Ohio State, 12-6, but bounced back to defeat Detroit Mercy, 8-6. Junior goalkeeper Cole Blazer was named BIG EAST Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his combined 31 saves in two games. Blazer set a MU program record with 18 saves against the Buckeyes. Junior Tanner Thomson scored a hat trick against OSU and is tied with Pittsburgh native Andy DeMichiei for the Marquette team lead with four goals.

For the first time since 2012, Robert Morris is receiving votes in the USILA/Nike Division I Coaches Poll.
 
Keep Rolling
RMU held its opponents to single-digit scoring in four of its last five games. The Colonials have outscored their opponents, 59-41, during the last five outings.
 
Among the Ranks
The Colonials boast the No. 3 man-up offense in the nation (.636), and rank among the top 20 in caused turnovers per game (12th; 8.50), points per game (18th; 18.38), and saves per game (16th; 12.33). Sophomore goalkeeper Alex Heger ranks 13th in the nation in save percentage (.579), and 14th in saves per game (12.17).

Junior attack Adrian Torok-Orban is one of 25 players nationally who are currently riding a 20-plus game point streak (21 games: 44G, 14A, 58P) dating back to April 25, 2015.
 
Schedule Notes
For the first time since 2012, the Colonials will play a game under the lights of Joe Walton Stadium, when they host Canisius on Tues., April 18 at 7 p.m. in a non-conference, evening clash. Men's and women's lacrosse will also compete in a doubleheader on Sat., March 25. The men's team will open the day with a 1 p.m. faceoff with Mount St. Mary's, and the women's squad will host crosstown rival Duquesne at 4 p.m.
