Daytona Beach, Fla. – The Robert Morris University men's golf team couldn't make up any ground from its first day performance at the Lonnie Barton Invitational, ultimately claiming fourth place at the tournament with a two-round score of 624.
Robert Morris shot a 313 on the day after opening up the invitational with a 311, and finished four strokes behind Northeast Conference (NEC) foe Sacred Heart for third place. Longwood paced the field with a two-round score of 591 after shooting a five-under 283 this afternoon. Fort Wayne (614) came in second, while Towson (628) rounded out the top five.
David Szymanski finished in a tie for eighth with a two-round score of 152. After opening the invite with a 77, Szymanski shot a three-over 75 to climb eight spots on the leaderboard.
Michael McMorrow also brought home a top-15 finish, tying for 12th with a two-round score of 153 (+9). Max Palmer carded a 77 this afternoon for a final score of 155, good for sole possession of 17th, while Grant Schumaker made up eight strokes from his first round score (84) to finish in a deadlock for 30th.
Brett Pompeani, Daniel Franco Saad, and Bryce Gorrell rounded out the Colonial contingent at the invitational, shooting respective two-round scores of 162, 162, and 163.
Robert Morris returns to action on Saturday, March 25 when it comes in the Towson Spring Invitational.
