Hellertown, Pa. – The Robert Morris University men's golf team currently sits in sixth place at the Coca-Cola Lehigh Valley Invitational after shooting a 16-over 304 in the opening round this afternoon.
Connecticut currently paces the field after shooting a seven-over 295 through the first 18 holes. Fordham is right behind the Huskies after carding a 296, followed by Bryant (+10, 298), Hofstra (+10, 298), and Colgate (+13, 301) to round out the top five. The Colonials are second among Northeast Conference (NEC) teams, behind the aforementioned Bulldogs and ahead of seventh-place Wagner (+18, 306).
Grant Schumaker led RMU on the day, registering a two-over 74 to sit in a tie for 10th place. David Syzmanski also is in the top 20 after the opening round, firing a three-over 75 on the day. Max Palmer and Bryce Gorrell also came in with sub-80 scores, respectively shooting a 77 and 78.
Playing in his first match of the season, Alex Schreckengost shot a 10-over 82 to round out the Colonial five.
Robert Morris completes play at the Lehigh Valley Invitational tomorrow, starting with a 10:00 a.m. shotgun start.
