Daytona Beach, Fla. – The Robert Morris University men's golf team moved into second place this afternoon at the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championships, thanks to a second round score of 301 (+13) on the Hills Course at LPGA International.

Robert Morris owns a two-day total of 608 (+32), trailing first round leader Bryant (593, +17) by 15 strokes heading into Sunday's final 18 holes.

Following the Bulldogs and Colonials are Fairleigh Dickinson (611, +35), Central Connecticut (619, +43), Saint Francis U (619, +43), Sacred Heart (622, +46), Wagner (622, +46), LIU Brooklyn (623, +47), and St. Francis Brooklyn (662, +86).

Daniel Franco Saad posted a one-under 71 on the day, tying for the best score of the second round. Franco Saad opened the round with four straight pars before birdieing the fifth hole, a 380-yard part four. Five more pars followed that up, but a bogey on hole 11 brought the sophomore back to even par. That wouldn't last long however, as a birdie on 12 put Franco Saad back in the red, where he would finish after six consecutive pars to close the round.

Max Palmer carded a two-over 74 this afternoon and is tied for fifth individually, two spots ahead of Franco Saad. Palmer started out strong with a pair of birdies over the first five holes and managed to post six pars on the front nine. The freshman tallied 13 pars in all, with bogeys on seven and 15, along with a double on 10 bringing him just outside the red at 74.

Bryce Gorrell fired a five-over 77 today and currently sits in a tie for 19th. Color filled the front nine of Gorrell's scorecard as he tallied a trio of birdies, pars, and bogeys.  The sophomore registered five more pars on the back nine, but three more bogeys and a double left him with a 41 to add to the front nine 36.

Grant Schumaker and Michael McMorrow posted respective scores of 79 (+7) and 82 (+10) on the day. Schumaker, who sits in 14th individually at 154 (+10), tallied two birdies and 10 pars on his second go-around. McMorrow, who is tied for 30th at 160 (+16), registered a birdie on the second hole and eight pars.

Saint Francis U's Brandon Mihalo is on top of the player leaderboard after a two-round mark of 141 (-3).

Robert Morris closes the NEC Championships in the final flight tomorrow.
