Hellertown, Pa. – In its next-to-last competition before the Northeast Conference (NEC) championships at the end of April, the Robert Morris University men's golf team finished in a tie for eighth at the Coca-Cola Lehigh Valley Invitational after shooting a two-round score of 618.
Playing at Silver Creek Country Club, a 6,738-yard, par 72 course in Hellertown, Pennsylvania, Robert Morris carded a final round tally of 314, 10 strokes higher than its performance over the opening 18 holes. Connecticut brought home the title with a two-day score of 582 (+6), followed by Drexel and Bryant tied for second at 596 (+20). Villanova and Fordham rounded out the top five with respective scores of 605 (+29) and 613 (+37).
The Colonials finished in a deadlock with St. Peter's, and one stroke ahead of NEC foe Wagner, who claimed 10th place out of 19 teams with a score of 619 (+43).
After leading the way for RMU on day one, Grant Schumaker fired a 75 to finish in a tie for 11th individually at five-over 149. David Szymanski and Max Palmer each shot 78 on the day, placing in deadlocks for 27th (153, +9) and 42nd (155, +11), respectively. Bryce Gorrell carded a 161 (+17) and Alex Schreckengoot registered a 165 (+21) to round out the Colonial contingent.
Robert Morris returns home to host the RMU Colonial Classic, a two-day invitational beginning on Monday, April 10 at Montour Heights Country Club.
