Colonials Collect GCAA Team Academic Awards

Robert Morris collected both All-Academic Team and President’s Special Recognition from the GCAA for its 3.50 team GPA

Moon Township, Pa. – The Robert Morris University golf team claimed its fifth consecutive Team Academic Award from the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) this afternoon, as announced in a release by the organization.

Robert Morris earned an additional accolade this time around, as it joined 18 other Division I teams on the GCAA President's Special Recognition list for posting a team grade point average of 3.5 of higher. The Colonials were the only Northeast Conference (NEC) team to be recognized by the GCAA.

RMU tallied a 3.50 grade point average for the season, led by Ethan Sawyer's perfect 4.00 mark. Eight student-athletes were named to last month's NEC Academic Honor Roll for achieving a 3.20 cumulative GPA or higher, with five additionally earning NEC Commissioner's Honor Roll designation for posting a 3.75 cumulative GPA or higher.

Robert Morris finished third at the NEC Championships, its ninth consecutive season placing on the top half of the conference leaderboard. The Colonials are set to return the majority of their team in 2017-18, including All-NEC Second Team selections Daniel Franco Saad and Max Palmer – the latter also claiming NEC Rookie of the Year plaudits.
