Moon Township, Pa. – The
Robert Morris University cross country team continued its 2017 season Thursday night by taking part in the Tommy Evans Invitational in Akron, Ohio.
After a weather delay, the field got off at 6:45 p.m. Leading the way for the Colonials for the second consecutive meet to open the year was senior
Rachel Crane, who navigated the five-kilometer course in a time of 19:20.3 to finish 30th individually.
A pair of rookies followed for RMU, as freshmen
Emma Gardner and
Sami Felton finished 44th and 46th, respectively. Gardner posted a time of 19:40.5, while Felton crossed the finish line in 19:51.1.

Senior
Maggie Prorok placed 51st, recording a time of 20:15.6, while sophomore
Anna Chasovskaia saw her first action of the season and finished at 20:59.4.
Rounding out the lineup for Robert Morris was freshman
Jordan Redinger, senior
Madeline Menzie, freshman
Tara Richardson and junior
Brynn Adams. Redinger posted a time of 21:57.4, while Menzie followed at 21:57.4. Richardson clocked in at 22:01.0, while Adams finished at 22:02.6.
The host Zips took home first place as a team with 43 points, while Malone (52) claimed second and Kent State (61) third.
The Colonials return to the course Saturday, Sept. 16, by taking part in the Waynesburg Invitational in Waynesburg, Pa.
