Robert Morris Battles Bentley in Weekend Series

Colonials host Falcons Friday at 7:05pm, Saturday at 4:05pm

Pittsburgh, Pa. - Robert Morris University men's hockey returns to home ice at Colonials Arena this Friday and Saturday against the Bentley Falcons, for the first time since a December 16 win over Mercyhurst. The Colonials are winners of four out of five games in that stretch, sitting in fifth place in the Atlantic Hockey standings entering the weekend series.

LAST TIME OUT
The Colonials played ten days ago, winning a 3-1 contest at Niagara University. Junior Alex Tonge scored twice and added an assist while senior Timmy Moore potted a goal and a helper, both players eclipsing the 20-point mark for the season. Sophomore goaltender Francis Marotte recorded 24 saves, playing 55:55 of shutout hockey before Niagara cracked onto the scoreboard using a 6-on-4 matchup with an extra attacker on top of a power play.

HISTORY VS. BENTLEY
Robert Morris is 10-12-3 all-time versus Bentley, with an 8-5-2 mark on home ice. Earlier this season, the Colonials were swept 3-1 and 6-3 on the Falcons home ice on November 24 and 25. Junior Michael Louria scored twice in that series, with Alex Tonge and Ryley Risling scoring the other two goals.

500
The Colonials will play their 500th game as a program on Saturday, which also marks the 500th career game as a head coach for Derek Schooley. Robert Morris holds a 220-217-59 record all-time.

For the second time, Brady Ferguson has been nominated for the Hobey Baker Award, the most prestigious honor in NCAA men's ice hockey.

LYNCH LIGHTS IT UP
Sophomore forward Luke Lynch has been lighting the lamp to the tune of 12 goals in 22 games and is RMU's goals leader.

CHASING HISTORY
Ferguson is third all-time in scoring at RMU with 146 career points, surpassing Chris Margott '09 and Nathan Longpre '11. The senior from Carrollton, Texas is just 4 points back of tying Cody Wydo '15 for second (150 points). Zac Lynch '16 is the all-time scoring leader (156 points).

LONE STAR LEADING SCORER
Brady Ferguson is the NCAA's active career scoring leader. After posting the fifth-highest scoring NCAA men's hockey season in 2016-17 with 58 points, Ferguson is the lone returner out of that Top 5. The Carrollton, Texas native has 11 goals and 17 assists for 28 points in 22 games this season.

JENNY, JENNY, WHO CAN I TURN TO
Freshman Nick Jenny is becoming a reliable member of the Colonials defensive corps and has chipped in on the offensive end as well. Jenny tallied his first NCAA goal in the opening game of the Three Rivers Classic and registered 3 points in his first 7 games played (1-2-3). Jenny entered the lineup for the first time on Nov. 25 at Bentley and hasn't missed a game since, registering a plus-four rating, on the ice for just two even-strength goals against, out of the 26 total goals scored against RMU in that eight-game span.

BACK ON THE HORSE
After playing 5 of the first 6 games, junior forward Kyle Horsman has missed 16 games, dealing with injury, but is back in the lineup this weekend.

POWER UP
Brady Ferguson leads the Colonials in power play scoring with 11 of his points coming on the man advantage. The senior forward has 5 goals and 6 assists on the power play (11G-17A-28P overall). RMU's 23 power play goals are tied for first in Atlantic Hockey (with Bentley).

SHORTY GET DOWN
Ferguson & Lynch have each scored a pair of shorthanded goals this season. Ferguson is second in career SHG among all active players with 7. 

BLOCK PARTY
Junior defenseman Eric Israel (50, 2.27/pg) and senior defenseman Alex Bontje (48, 2.18/pg) are second and third in blocks in Atlantic Hockey,  ranked 9th and 12th in the NCAA.

SHOOT YOUR SHOT
Lynch is 19th in the NCAA & 2nd in Atlantic Hockey in shooting percentage at .226 (12 goals, 53 SOG). Lynch averages 2.41 shots on goal/pg.

SHUTOUT SHOW
Francis Marotte has five career shutouts and three this season, tied for third all-time at RMU with Eric Levine '13. The all-time record is eight, held by 2016 graduate Terry Shafer. (2nd, Dalton Izyk '17, 6). The single-season shutout record is 4 (Levine '12-13, Shafer '15-16).

LYNCH'S LINING UP
Through 59 games, Luke Lynch has matched the scoring rate of his older brother, RMU'S all-time scoring leader Zac Lynch '16.
