Moon Township, Pa. – Robert Morris University junior linebacker Adam Wollet was named the 2017 Northeast Conference Fall Scholar-Athlete for football as announced by league headquarters Tuesday. Wollet is the sixth different Colonial to receive the award, presented by Certified Financial Services, and 2017 marks the ninth time an RMU player has earned the distinction from the NEC. Previous winners include Nick Faraci (2014-15), Ray Gensler (2006), Adam Lawrence (2008), Jonathan LeDonne (2004) and Nolan Nearhoof (2010-12).

Earlier this year, Wollet was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America Second Team. It marked the 10th time an RMU football player has received the honor while Wollet became just the fifth different player in team history to be recognized on the national level by CoSIDA.

A native of Poland, Ohio, Wollet has a perfect 4.0 grade point average while carrying a double major in finance and management. He was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District II Team each of the last two seasons and earned All-Northeast Conference Second Team honors for the first time in 2017.

Wollet led the NEC and was 17th in FCS at the end of the regular season with 108 tackles, an average of 9.8 per game. The total places him sixth all-time at Robert Morris as he became the first Colonials player to record triple-digit stops since Mike Cook had a school-record 117 tackles in 2013. The junior linebacker recorded at least 10 stops in seven of the team's 11 games this season, including a career-best 16 tackles against Sacred Heart. Wollet recorded five tackles for loss and broke up three passes as well.

After three seasons, Wollet is 20th at Robert Morris with 203 career tackles, averaging 6.2 in 33 career games. He ranks 12th with 124 assisted stops and has collected 79 solo tackles.

Nick Faraci, a two-time honoree in 2014 and 2015, was the last RMU football player to land Academic All-America honors. Nolan Nearhoof was a three-time recipient of the award, garnering second-team recognition in 2010 and 2011 and a first-team spot in 2012. Ray Gensler (2005 & 2006) was a two-time honoree while Brad Banas (2012) and Jonathan LeDonne (2004) were each recognized once.
