Robert Morris Continues Solid Spring at Kerr Cup

Colonials compete in six races in Philadelphia

Moon Township, Pa. – The Robert Morris University rowing team continued its 2018 spring campaign Saturday by competing in the Kerr Cup in Philadelphia, Pa.

The RMU Varsity 8 finished fifth in the Petite Final, crossing the finish line with a time of 8:04.98. Sophomore Kestra Harris was the coxswain, and she was joined in the boat by junior Miriam Levenson, freshman Molly McGuire, senior Melissa Asaro, juniors Grace Faye and Hannah Daman, freshman Madelyn Green, sophomore Elizabeth Cottrell and senior Lindsay Feltz.

In Varsity 4 action, the Colonials raced a pair of boats, with each boat finishing fourth. The Varsity 4 recorded a time of 8:57.80, while the Varsity 4B boat finished at 9:29.37.

The Robert Morris Varsity 4 featured juniors Kathryn Gossel and Sara Beth Johnson, freshman Katy Cooke and sophomore Sophie Carroll, while junior Sarah Heastings was coxswain. The coxswain of the Varsity 4B boat for RMU was sophomore Brittany Bell, and she was joined by junior Alyssa VanAuken, freshman Taylor Boczar, sophomore Kalyssa Pottgeiser and freshman Natasha Wood.  

RESULTS: Kerr Cup (4/14/18)

In novice action, the eight took home bronze, while a pair of four teams earned silver and bronze, respectively.

The Novice 8 crossed the finish line with a time of 8:44.27. Freshman Emily Kastroll served as the coxswain, and the boat consisted of rookies Rachel Gress, Alison Ishman and Nicole Kristof, junior Madalyn Trapp and freshmen Mia Krolczyk, Francesca Barchetti and Emma McIntosh and junior Emma Smith.

The Novice 4B boat earned silver with a time of 9:16.35. Gress, Trapp, Krolczyk and Ishman made up the boat that featured freshman Katelyn DeAgro as the coxswain. The Novice 4 boat claimed bronze with a time of 9:31.99 and featured Kastroll (coxswain), Kristof, Barchetti, McIntosh and freshman Satalia Rickman.

RMU now gears up for the Pitt Invitational, which will be held Saturday, April 21.
