Langhurst Named Director of Basketball Ops

Former RMU student-athlete joins staff after stint at Le Moyne College

Moon Township, Pa. – Robert Morris University head men's basketball coach Andy Toole announced Thursday that former guard Jimmy Langhurst (2006-10) has joined the staff as Director of Basketball Operations.

"I've kept a close eye on Jimmy since he concluded his playing career with the Colonials and have been impressed with how well he's been an integral part of successful staffs the last few years," Toole said. "He was part of a winning culture within our program as a student-athlete, and I'm confident that he will bring that aspect to his alma mater."

Langhurst, a native of Willard, Ohio, spent the last three seasons as an assistant coach at Le Moyne College in Syracuse, N.Y. During that span, the Dolphins posted an overall record of 59-31 (.656), including a mark of 41-19 (.683) in the Northeast 10 Conference.

Last season, Langhurst helped Le Moyne post an overall record of 27-7 (.794), including a mark of 18-2 (.900) in the NEC10. The Dolphins won the 2018 Southwest Division championship and also went on to win the 2018 NE10 Conference Tournament championship with a 69-63 victory over Saint Anselm. In the 2018 NCAA Division II Tournament, the Dolphins advanced to the Elite 8 in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Langhurst was named to the 2017-18 Under Armour 30-under-30 squad by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) in May of 2018, which recognizes a group of up-and-coming coaches under the age of 30. That honor came on the heels of Langhurst ranking No. 9 in the Top 25 NCAA Division II Assistant Coaches by coachstat.net.

He finished with 781 career points, converting 40.6 percent (157-for-387) of his attempts from beyond the arc and 84 percent (142-for-169) at the free-throw line. A two-time captain, Langhurst appeared in the 2008 National Invitation Tournament (NIT) and a pair of NCAA Tournaments (2009, 2010) with Robert Morris.

In the RMU record book, Langhurst ranks seventh all-time for career three-point field goal percentage. He is one of five Colonials in program history to finish a game perfect from beyond the arc, going 5-for-5 from deep in an 88-61 victory @ Florida International (11/29/07). In that contest he finished with 19 points, concluding the game a perfect 7-for-7 from the floor.

Upon conclusion of his career with the Colonials, Langhurst spent the 2011-12 campaign with the Sheffield Sharks of the British Basketball League (BBL). In eight seasons under Toole, Robert Morris has compiled an overall record of 150-123 (.549), including a mark of 91-51 (.641) against Northeast Conference opponents. Toole has guided the Colonials to a pair of NEC regular-season championships (2013, 2014) as well as the 2015 NEC Tournament title.
