Trailing, 62-51, with 12:07 remaining in regulation, RMU (18-16) rallied to force overtime and received a spark from senior guard Matty McConnell, who knocked down three-pointers on three consecutive possessions in the extra frame to help spark Robert Morris.

The performance by the Williams' brothers and McConnell marks the first time a trio of Colonials scored at least 20 points in a game since Jan. 23, 2007, when A.J. Jackson (28), Tony Lee (23) and Derek Coleman (20) combined for 71 points in a 94-75 victory @ Saint Francis U. At home, the feat hadn't been accomplished in almost 20 years, when Kevin Covert (24), Steve Pettyjohn (23) and Gene Nabors (20) combined for 67 points in a 102-99 overtime loss to Quinnipiac (2/19/00) at the Charles L. Sewall Center.

Robert Morris is making its second appearance in the CIT and first since 2012. In the 2012 CIT, the Colonials posted road wins over Indiana State and Toledo before falling in the quarterfinals at Fairfield.

In nine seasons under head coach Andrew Toole, RMU has posted a record of 168-139 (.547), including a mark of 102-58 (.638) in the NEC. In the last 12 years, Robert Morris has averaged 20.1 victories per season thanks to an overall record of 241-170 (.586).
