Moon Township, Pa. – The
Robert Morris University softball team returned to Northeast Conference action Saturday by splitting a doubleheader with Wagner at the North Athletic Complex.
Both games went five innings, with the Colonials earning a 10-1 victory in game one before suffering an 11-1 loss in game two.
Thanks to the split, RMU moves to 13-28 (.317) overall on the 2019 campaign, including 4-4 (.500) in the NEC.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
The Seahawks (12-21 / 2-4 NEC) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning courtesy of an RBI single from Alexis Silinonte, but the Colonials got the run back in the home half of the inning when freshman
Erika Bell singled to drive in junior
Taryn Miller. The Colonials followed by scoring three in the third and six more in the fourth to take control.
LAUNCHING PAD
Robert Morris took the lead for good in the bottom of the third when senior
Taylor Bartlow drilled a 1-0 pitch to left for her second home run of the year, a two-run shot that scored junior
Briana Bunner. Bunner got on by lacing a one-out double down the line in left field. In the fourth, the Colonials scored six runs on five hits, including a two-run double from Bunner and a two-run dinger from Miller, her sixth of the season.
MILLER TIME
Miller finished 2-for-3 with three runs and a pair of RBI in the win over Wagner, as she was one of four Colonials to record a multi-hit game. Bell finished 2-for-4 with an RBI out of the leadoff spot, Bunner was 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI and freshman
Kristýna Malá went 2-for-3 with a run scored. The offense made a winner out of freshman
Dana Vatakis, who allowed an earned run in five innings of work, striking out three and walking one while improving 8-11 overall from the circle.

ROLES REVERSED
The top two hitters in the Wagner lineup in game two, Karen Prihoda and Hannah Lewis, sparked the Seahawks by combining to go 6-for-7 at the dish with five runs and an RBI in the victory. Wagner also got home runs from Kaila Smith, Jessica Carlucci and Prihoda in the win.
DINGER TO RIGHT
Senior
Abrielle McCartney accounted for RMU's lone run in game two, launching her third home run of the 2019 season in the bottom of the first with a solo shot to right field. Thanks to a pair of hits in the doubleheader, McCartney pushed her career hit total to 148, moving into 13th place all-time at Robert Morris.
// ON DECK
Robert Morris was set to conclude its eight-game homestand Sunday, April 14, with a Noon doubleheader against Sacred Heart, but impeding weather tomorrow as well as a bleak forecast for Monday has forced a postponement. The Colonials will get back to action Wednesday, April 17, with a 2:00 p.m. non-conference double dip at Kent State.
