Moon Township, Pa. – The Robert Morris University women's basketball team once again earned recognition for its excellence in the classroom, earning the No. 3 ranking in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Top 25 Division I Team Honor Roll, as announced by the organization in a press release this afternoon.
Robert Morris posted a cumulative grade point average of 3.713 over the 2018-19 school year to earn its third consecutive top-four ranking. Last season, RMU's 3.748 team GPA garnered the No. 4 slot, and it posted a 3.726 mark in 2016-17 to finish as the national runner-up. The Colonials are the only team to rank inside the top four over the last three seasons.

"I'm very proud of our program to represent Robert Morris University at the top of such an important national ranking," said head coach Charlie Buscaglia. "There is a great deal of sacrifice that makes this team GPA all possible. It's a great joy to be leading such a thankful group that work their hardest for each other on and off the court. I'd like to thank our academic support staff, led by Coach (Asami) Morita and Nicole Law, for all the daily efforts for our student-athletes' academic success."
"The WBCA is pleased to recognize those women's basketball programs that have committed themselves to excellence on the court and in the classroom," said WBCA Executive Director Danielle Donehew in a press release. "The 117 teams we honor this year strive to achieve all-around success and we commend their efforts. Congratulations!"
Western Illinois and North Dakota State were the only two teams ranked ahead of RMU, finishing with respective GPAs of 3.767 and 3.756.
Last month, Robert Morris was bestowed with its third consecutive Northeast Conference (NEC) Team GPA Award. That came on the heels of the program's fourth consecutive national postseason tournament appearance in 2018-19, as the Colonials – who finished with a 22-11 overall mark – won the NEC regular-season and tournament titles, and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. RMU is bringing back its top six scorers for the 2019-20 campaign, headlined by NEC Defensive Player of the Year and First Team selection Nneka Ezeigbo.
