Moon Township, Pa. – The
Robert Morris University cross country team opened its 2019 campaign Friday by taking part in the first Blast Furnace Open at the Carrie Blast Furnaces in Swissvale, Pa., which was hosted by the University of Pittsburgh.
The Colonials finished fifth with 149 points. The host Panthers won the team title with 28 points, followed by Bucknell (50), Kent State (56) and Marshall (94).

Earning the top time for RMU was junior
Tara Richardson, who navigated the four-kilometer course with a time of 16:12.38. Fellow classmate
Martha Gardner crossed the finish line in a time of 16:33.58, while a trio of Colonials after Gardner finished within 17 seconds of each other.
Sophomore
Alexis Mullarkey clocked in at 17:01.11, while freshmen
Alannah Barton and
Elicia Moore recorded times of 17:09.91 and 17:17.58, respectively.
Freshman Julianna Robinson finished with a time of 17:34.13 in her collegiate debut for Robert Morris, while sophomore
Laura Lintelman was one spot behind with a time of 17:43.41.
Rounding out the field for the Colonials were seniors
Alyssa Alberghini (18:19.79) and
Nina Radisavljevic (18:51.26).
RMU returns to action Saturday, Sept. 7, with the Tommy Evans Invitational in Akron, Ohio.
