Moon Township, Pa. – Redshirt senior guard Josh Williams of the Robert Morris University men's basketball team was named the Northeast Conference Player of the Week Monday.

In helping the Colonials open league play 4-0 for the second time in three years as well as the third time under 10th-year RMU Pat Gallagher Head Coach Andrew Toole, Williams averaged 20.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists in home wins over St. Francis Brooklyn (1/9/20) and Wagner (1/11/20) at the UPMC Events Center. He shot 70 percent (14-for-20) from the field, including 72.2 percent (13-for-18) from beyond the arc.

In a 78-52 triumph over the Terriers in RMU's first league home game of the year, Williams led all scorers with 20 points while tying a career high with eight rebounds. He knocked down seven of his nine attempts from the floor, including a 6-for-8 performance from deep.

Two days later in a 94-62 win over the Seahawks, Williams knocked down five triples in the first half and finished with seven three-pointers overall en route to tying for game-high honors with 21 points. He also contributed five rebounds and five assists.

Williams has scored in double figures in each of his last seven games, averaging 19.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game during that stretch. He has shot 57.1 percent (44-for-77) from the field in that span, including 62.5 percent (35-for-56) from deep in averaging 5.0 three-pointers per contest.

Overall in 2019-20, Williams leads the NEC in both three-point field goals made per game (3.88) and three-point field goal percentage (.449), totals that rank fifth and 10th, respectively, in NCAA Division I. He leads the Colonials in scoring with an average of 15.2 points per game, which ranks ninth in the NEC.

In two seasons at Robert Morris after transferring from the University of Akron, Williams has scored 765 points in 52 games, an average of 14.7 points per contest. He has knocked down 169 three-pointers as a member of the Colonials, an average of 3.25 per game that would surpass the career school record of 2.91 held by former guard Karvel Anderson (2012-14). Overall in his career at the NCAA Division I level, Williams has scored 1,254 points and has drained 296 three-pointers in 121 career contests.

Led by Toole, Robert Morris continues a four-game homestand on Peoples Court at the UPMC Events Center Saturday, Jan. 18, with a 4:00 p.m. tip against Merrimack. The Colonials conclude their homestand Monday, Jan. 20, with a 5:00 p.m. tip against Sacred Heart in a game that can be seen live on CBS Sports Network.
