Moon Township, Pa. – Former
Robert Morris University men's basketball guard
Josh Williams will take part in the 2020 The Basketball Tournament (TBT), which takes place July 4-14, 2020, at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.
The tournament features 24 teams and begins Saturday, July 4, with four games that will be televised live on ESPN. Williams is a member of the team Mid American Unity, which will open action in the tournament with the last of four games Saturday, July 4, with a 10:00 p.m. tip.
"Josh ended his career at Robert Morris the best way imaginable by winning a championship on his home court," RMU Pat Gallagher Head Coach
Andrew Toole said. "I'm excited that he gets the opportunity to participate in the TBT. I know he's excited to get back on the court and help his team in any way that he can."
A two-time All-Northeast Conference selection, Williams helped guide the Colonials to an overall record of 20-14 (.588) in 2019-20, including a mark of 13-5 (.722) in the NEC. He led RMU in scoring at 13.6 points per game, knocking down 43.2 percent (156-for-361) of his attempts from the field, including 41.7 percent (106-for-254) from beyond the arc.

In helping Robert Morris claim its ninth NEC Tournament title in 2020, Williams, a native of Akron, Ohio, averaged 14.3 points and 4.3 rebounds in victories over St. Francis Brooklyn, LIU and Saint Francis U en route to the crown. For his efforts, Williams earned a spot on the 2020 All-NEC Tournament Team.
Williams played two seasons at RMU after transferring from the University of Akron and started each of his 69 games for the Colonials during that span. He posted career averages of 14.0 points and 3.4 rebounds while shooting 41 percent (318-for-775) from the floor, including 39.7 percent (209-for-526) from deep.
In the Robert Morris record book, Williams is the only student-athlete in program history to connect for at least 100 three-pointers in a season on multiple occasions. He drained 103 in his first year with the Colonials in 2018-19 before hitting 106 his senior year, and all-time he ranks sixth for career three-pointers (209).
