Moon Township, Pa. – The RMU golf team concluded play in the Towson Fall Invitational Sunday in Grasonville, Md., tying for third among eight teams. The Colonials posted a 299 in the third and final round at Prospect Bay Country Club, concluding the 54-hole tournament with a score of 873 to tie with fellow Horizon League member Youngstown State.

RECORD BREAKER
A day after becoming the fourth RMU student-athlete to post a 65, the lowest round in school history, junior Josh Nagy concluded the tournament Sunday with a 73. He finished the invitational with a 209 to claim second individually and establish a new school record for 54-hole total. His score broke the record of his teammate, Chase Miller, who posted a 210 at the Northern Kentucky Fall Collegiate Classic Sept. 23-24, 2018. Nagy finished seven under par on the invitational and trailed only Everett Whiten, Jr., of Howard, who claimed medalist honors Sunday by carding a 67. Whiten finished the tournament with a score of 206 (-10).

TOURNAMENT CHAMPION
The host Tigers posted a 287 Sunday in round three to finish the Towson Fall Invitational with a score of 868, one stroke ahead of Howard. Trailing the Colonials and Penguins and rounding out the field was Binghamton (892), Towson B (898), Niagara (899) and Manhattan (916).

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Nagy was one of three Colonials that posted a top 10 finish for RMU at the Towson Fall Invitational. Sophomore Skyler Fox, playing as an individual, carded a 72 Sunday to conclude the invite with a score of 215 and finish fourth. Miller, meanwhile, continued his consistent play this fall by finishing in a tie for eighth with a score of 218. He posted a 73 Sunday and tied with Lincoln Cizek of Niagara and Brad Riley of Towson.

GO THE DISTANCE
A key reason the trio of Nagy, Fox and Miller excelled at the Towson Fall Invitational was their play on a par five. Fox averaged 4.58 strokes, followed by Nagy (4.67) and Miller (4.75). As a team, RMU finished six under par when playing a par five this weekend, averaging 4.90 strokes and trailing only Towson (-12) and Binghamton (-10).

THE LINEUP
Playing at No. 3 for the Colonials, sophomore Xavier Schwarz finished at 224 at the Towson Fall Invitational, tying for 20th individually with Owen Gauder of Niagara and Justin Lane of Binghamton. He finished with a 78 Sunday. Junior Alex Seelig finished at 226, while junior Logan Hess carded a score of 230.

WHERE IT RANKS
Overall in program history, the 873 RMU finished with as part of the Towson Fall Invitational is tied for second in the record book for scoring in a 54-hole tournament. The Colonials also recorded an 873 in winning the Red Flash Invitational in April of 2015. The school record of 865 was established just over three years ago at the NKU Fall Collegiate Classic, where Miller posted his best 54-hole score of 210.

UP NEXT
RMU wraps up the fall portion of its 2021 season Monday, Nov. 1, and Tuesday, Nov. 2, by taking part in the Metropolitan Intercollegiate Championship in West Orange, N.J., at Montclair Golf Club. The championship will be hosted by Wagner.
