Moon Township, Pa. – RMU head men's lacrosse coach Craig McDonald has completed his coaching staff, naming Kris Alleyne and Adrian Torok-Orban as assistant coaches as well as Andy Herriott as a volunteer assistant.

Alleyne, who will serve as defensive coordinator, spent last season as an assistant coach at NJIT, helping the Highlanders earn their first America East victory in program history. Prior to joining the NJIT coaching staff, Alleyne spent two years as an assistant coach at Canisius, where he tutored the goaltenders and assisted with game planning and recruiting. While an assistant with the Golden Griffins, Alleyne assisted in the development of goalkeeper Brad Nordstrom, who helped Canisius rank 17th in NCAA Division I in scoring defense by allowing an average of 10.17 goals per contest.

"I'm excited to welcome Kris to our staff," McDonald said. "He possesses great experience as an outstanding player and coach. Kris will impact our program through his positive attitude, tireless work ethic and his ability to build genuine relationships with others. The passion and excitement that Kris brings everyday will have a tremendous impact on all our student-athletes as we continue to move our program forward."

A 2016 graduate of Rutgers with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication, Alleyne was a four-year letterwinner for the Scarlet Knights. As a freshman, Alleyne, a native of New City, N.Y., was named the 2013 BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year as well as earning a spot on the All-BIG EAST First Team. He appeared in 53 career games at Rutgers in goal, recording a goals against average of 10.40, a .522 save percentage and 545 saves, which ranks fifth all-time in program history.

Torok-Orban, who will serve as offensive coordinator for the Colonials, returns to RMU after spending the last two seasons as a graduate assistant at Mercer. In his first season with the Bears in 2020, Torok-Orban helped Mercer get off to a 6-1 start, the best in program history, before the remainder of the year was canceled due to the global pandemic.

"I'm thrilled to welcome Adrian back home to Moon Township," McDonald said. "Adrian has been a part of some of the most successful teams at RMU thus far, winning championships both as a player and coach. Not only is he a great coach, but he possesses a special ability to garner relationships both on and off the field. Adrian has tremendous pride in our program and his unwavering energy, excitement and positivity will help lead our program to future success."

A 2018 graduate of RMU with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration with a concentration in management, Torok-Orban started each of his four seasons as a student-athlete with the Colonials. In 61 career contests, he racked up 87 goals and 26 assists for 113 points. Torok-Orban, a native of Toronto, Ontario, was a key component for the Colonials in 2018, who claimed their first Northeast Conference (NEC) Tournament title and subsequent bid to the NCAA Tournament. He also served on the coaching staff for RMU as the Colonials repeated as NEC Tournament champs in 2019.

Herriott joins the Colonials as a volunteer assistant and will coach the faceoff unit. He spent the last three years as an assistant coach at Albion after serving as an assistant coach during the 2018 campaign at Gettysburg College. While an assistant with the Bullets, Herriott helped Gettysburg reach No. 3 in the national rankings and the semifinals of the NCAA Division III Tournament. Herriott is a 2012 graduate of the University of Cincinnati and also owns a master's degree from the University of Washington, which he earned in 2018.

"I'm looking forward to having Andy join our program at RMU," McDonald said. "Andy brings with him a wealth of knowledge and diverse experiences that will help our program continue to grow. Andy is a worker and I'm excited to watch him have a great impact on our faceoff and wing units as well as throughout our entire program."

The Colonials will open their first season under McDonald with a scrimmage against Seton Hill Saturday, Jan. 29, at Joe Walton Stadium. RMU opens the 2022 regular season Friday, Feb. 4, at Duke, before hosting Bucknell Saturday, Feb. 12, for its regular-season home opener.
