Moon Township, Pa. – The RMU track & field team continued action at the 2021 Horizon League Indoor Track & Field Championships Saturday at Lutheran Health Fieldhouse on the campus of Purdue Fort Wayne.
The Colonials sit in fourth place after two days of competition with 31 points. Youngstown State moved into first place with 72.66 points, while Milwaukee (70.83) sits second. RMU sits two and-a-half points behind Oakland (33.5) for third place.
Senior 
Estelle Katende claimed the 2021 individual championship in the shot put Saturday, earning the fourth conference championship of her career but first in the Horizon League. Katende also claimed the 2019 Northeast Conference (NEC) indoor championship in the shot put and also owns NEC outdoor titles in the shot put and discus, both of which came in 2018.
On her third attempt of the evening in the shot put, Katende unleashed a throw of 14.64 meters (48'0.50"), which pushed her past Lauren Lietzke of Milwaukee for the top spot. The distance ranks second in school history, trailing only her own school record of 15.16 meters (49'9") at the 2019 NEC Championships.

On the track, sophomore 
Elicia Moore qualified for Sunday's finals in the 400-meter dash, posting a time of 59.05 to win her heat and finish sixth during the preliminaries.
Also competing for RMU Saturday was freshman 
Gracie Parker, who posted a time of 9.07 in the 60-meter hurdles, while sophomore 
Lauren Chappell finished at 9.46 in the same event. Junior 
Tara Gologram also recorded the top mark for RMU in the long jump, posting a leap of 5.09 meters (16'8.50") on her third attempt.
The 2021 Horizon League Indoor Track & Field Championships continue Sunday at 11:00 a.m. with the mile. The finals for the 60-meter hurdles start at Noon.
