LIVE STATS

CATCHING UP

Robert Morris kicked off the 2021 campaign last week against defending regular-season champion Milwaukee, who took down the Colonials by a final score of 5-1.

Despite the final score, the Colonials gained valuable experience in a game-day situation against one of the elite programs on the Horizon League, something they will look to build off going forward. Sheridan Reid scored the lone goal for RMU in the loss.

KNOW BOBBY MO

  • The Colonials are coming off of a 5-1 home loss against Milwaukee a week ago.
  • Sophomore Sheridan Reid currently leads RMU in total scoring at two points as well as goalscoring with one. Haleigh Finale leads RMU in assists with one.
  • Twenty Colonials saw game action for Robert Morris last week in their first ever Horizon League conference game. Senior goalkeeper Sydney Bruckner made her 43rd career start in goal.
  • The Colonials recorded seven shots against the Panthers, including three on target. Reid, Finale, and Chelsea Kingston each finished with one apiece.
  • RMU sports a balanced roster in terms of class distribution, consisting on five freshman, seven sophomores, seven total juniors and three seniors.
  • Head Coach Chris Shaw takes over in his first year at the helm of Robert Morris in 2021. Shaw spent the last six years as the head coach at the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV), compiling an overall record of 66-48-9 (.573), the winningest coach in program history.
  • The Colonials will play their 2021 home schedule away from campus in 2021, hosting games at the indoor facilities of the SouthPoint Fieldhouse.
  • Amongst their new Horizon League foes, the Colonials have never faced Detroit Mercy, UIC, or Oakland, before, though they did face off against the Titans in pre-season play a year ago. Youngstown State has been a familiar opponent for RMU as the two squads have squared off 38 times overall and at least once in each of the previous nine seasons.

SCOUTING THE NORSE

Northern Kentucky will be playing their first game action of the 2021 season this week against RMU after COVID-19 protocols forced the cancellation of their previously scheduled game against UIC last Wednesday.

NKU finished 9-9 overall in its last season of competition, including a 5-4 mark in Horizon League play. They reached the semi-final of the conference tournament in 2019, losing in double-overtime to UIC, 1-0.

Picked to finish fourth overall in the 2021 Preseason Coaches Poll, NKU Senior midfielder Kailey Ivins is the top returning scorer for the Norse.

QUOTABLES

"I felt like we learned a lot in our first game, and the coaching staff is excited about our next opportunity to step on the field and see what progress we have made over the past week.  NKU is a good team and will provide some great competition, and we have no doubt that our team will respond accordingly."  - Head Coach Chris Shaw
