RMU Ties For Fifth at #HLTF Indoor Championships

Colonials finish with 42 points to tie with host Purdue Fort Wayne

Moon Township, Pa. – The RMU track & field team concluded the 2021 Horizon League Indoor Track & Field Championships Monday, tying for fifth out of 11 teams with 42 points.

Youngstown State claimed its fifth consecutive team championship and seventh of the last eight years by scoring 186.16 points. Milwaukee finished second with 132.83 points, followed by Oakland (100.5) and Northern Kentucky (67).

Also scoring 42 points was the host, Purdue Fort Wayne, and rounding out the field was IUPUI (30.5), Wright State (30), UIC (18), Detroit Mercy (7) and Cleveland State (6).

Senior Martha Gardner competed in the 3,000-meter for RMU Monday, finishing eighth. She crossed the finish line with a time of 10:28.25, establishing a new personal record in the event.

The RMU 4x400-meter relay team that consisted of senior Brooke Oldfin, sophomore Lauren Chappell, freshman Rio Strosnider and sophomore Elicia Moore placed seventh Monday with a time of 4:06.876.

The Colonials now gear up for the outdoor season, which RMU opens Saturday, March 27, at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational.
