Kristýna Malá of the RMU softball team was named to the Czech National Team for the 2021 European Championship, which takes place Sunday, June 27, 2021, to Saturday, July 3, 2021, in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy.
The Czech Republic is part of Group C, which also includes Croatia, Denmark and Israel. The Czech Republic opens play against Denmark Saturday, June 27, and the schedule also includes contests against Israel (6/28) and Croatia (6/29). It marks the second time Malá has taken part in the European Championship for the Czech Republic, as she also competed in the event in 2019.

In 39 games for the Colonials in 2021, including 32 starts, Malá hit .231 (25-for-108) with three doubles, three home runs and 10 RBI. She finished second for the Colonials in runs with 24.
Malá connected for the first home run of her RMU career in a 4-0 victory over Oakland (3/27) at the North Athletic Complex that helped the Colonials sweep a doubleheader and take three of four from the Golden Grizzlies. She added home runs in each of her next two games, both road victories over Purdue Fort Wayne (4/2), during a four-game hitting streak in which she hit .400 (6-for-15) with seven runs, six RBI and three walks.
Over the last three seasons for RMU, Malá has appeared in 82 contests for the Colonials, including 71 starting assignments. She owns a career batting average of .229 (47-for-205) with 36 runs.
Led by third-year head coach
Jexx Varner, the Colonials posted an overall record of 25-19 (.568) in 2021, including a mark of 20-14 (.588) in their first season as a member of the Horizon League. It marked the first time RMU reached the 25-win plateau since 2015.
