Moon Township, Pa – In a vote of Horizon League head coaches, freshman forward
Malia Kearns of the Robert Morris women's soccer team was named to the 2022 #HLWSOC All-Freshman Team, announced by the league office Friday afternoon.
Kearns, a native of Jeannette, Pa., enjoyed an impressive rookie season as she is one of three Colonials to start in each of RMU's 18 games and the only freshman to do so. She ended the season tied for third on the team with seven points, while tallying three assists and two goals.
The Penn-Trafford product is the only freshman on the team to record two multi-point games this fall. She carded her first collegiate assist in her second career NCAA start, in a 2-1 win over Saint Francis. Kearns then carded her first NCAA goal in a 7-1 victory over Hampton, which she tallied an assist as well. The 5'1 forward recorded her second multi-point game in a 5-1 win over Delaware State in September.
Kearns finished the year with 21 shots and nine shots on goal, while playing just under 1,300 minutes this season.
