Moon Township, Pa. – The 31st class of inductees into the RMU Athletic Hall of Fame is comprised of three former student-athletes and one administrator, each of whom left an indelible mark on their respective programs. The four new members to join the RMU Athletic Hall of Fame as the Class of 2022 include Karvel Anderson (men's basketball; 2012-14), Ken Mease (director of athletics; 1975-78), Nicole Sleith (softball; 2012-15) and Anna Niki Stamolamprou (women's basketball; 2013-17).

Each of the individuals will be inducted Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023, at a brunch in the conference center of the UPMC Events Center. Public recognition will follow at halftime of the men's basketball game against Wright State. The RMU Athletics Hall of Fame was established in 1991 to honor those who have made an outstanding contribution to RMU athletics. Nominations are solicited and individuals selected by the RMU Athletic Hall of Fame committee. Student-athletes, coaches and administrators are eligible five years after they have concluded their career at RMU.

The Class of 2022 brings membership in the RMU Athletic Hall of Fame to 147 individuals and three teams. A closer look at the new members …

0Karvel Anderson
Men's Basketball
2012-14

In two seasons with the Colonials, Anderson scored 1,123 career points and helped guide RMU to back-to-back Northeast Conference (NEC) regular-season championships in 2013 and 2014. Named the 2014 NEC Player of the Year, Anderson produced arguably the greatest offensive season in program history in 2013-14, establishing single-season school records for points (710), field goals (248), three-point field goals (119), double-figure scoring games (33), 20-point efforts (19) and 30-point scoring performances (4). In averaging 19.7 points per game during the 2013-14 campaign, Anderson became the third student-athlete for the Colonials to win an NEC scoring title, joining Myron Walker (19.8) in 1991-92 and Gene Nabors (19.1) in 1999-00. In an 89-78 victory @ St. John's in the first round of the 2014 National Invitation Tournament (NIT), Anderson scored a career-high 38 points, at the time tying an RMU single-game mark for three-pointers with nine. He concluded his final season with RMU by being selected to participate in the 2014 Reese's Division I College All-Star Game as part of the festivities at the 2014 NCAA Final Four in Arlington, Texas. Anderson, a native of Elkhart, Ind., also helped RMU defeat Kentucky in the first round of the 2013 NIT, 59-57, in front of 3,444 fans at the Charles L. Sewall Center.

Ken Mease0
Director of Athletics
1975-78

Named the athletic director and baseball manager at RMU when it was a junior college, Mease oversaw the transition of the athletic department from the junior college ranks to NCAA Division I. RMU is considered the first athletic program in the country to make the jump from the junior college ranks to NCAA Division I. The programs to join NCAA Division I under Mease's watch was basketball, tennis, golf and baseball. Mease was also a sportscaster with both KDKA and WPXI in Pittsburgh, Pa., and had three sons play collegiately at RMU. His son, Bart, is a 1999 graduate of RMU who was a 2004 inductee into the RMU Athletic Hall of Fame (men's golf), while sons Kert (1996) and Blake (2002) both played soccer for the Colonials. Kert is a member of the RMU Athletic Hall of Fame as a member of the 1993 men's soccer team.

0Nicole Sleith
Softball
2012-15

Arguably the most dominating pitcher in program history, Sleith was named the Northeast Conference (NEC) Pitcher of the Year three times (2012, 2013, 2015). In 2012, in addition to being named NEC Pitcher of the Year, she was also selected as the NEC Rookie of the Year. Sleith is one of just four student-athletes in program history to be named to the All-NEC First Team three times, garnering the honor each of the three years she was selected NEC Pitcher of the Year. Sleith owns RMU single-season marks for appearances (48), innings pitched (247), strikeouts (296), saves (5) and wins (25). In the career record book, Sleith is the program's leader in appearances (147), starts (114), strikeouts (932), victories (78) and saves (13), while her career earned run average (ERA) of 1.70 ranks second to only RMU Athletic Hall of Famer Tera Prosser (1.59). In the 2015 NEC Tournament, Sleith, a native of Smithton, Pa., spun a perfect game in a 2-0 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson at the North Athletic Complex. It marked the first perfect game in program history as well as Sleith's third career no hitter. She was also named the 2014-15 NEC Female Student-Athlete of the Year, the first ever honoree of either gender for RMU. The honor recognizes excellence in both the academic and athletic realms as well as leadership and contributions in the community.

Anna Niki Stamolamprou0
Basketball
2013-17

In four seasons with the Colonials, Stamolamprou helped lead RMU to three Northeast Conference (NEC) Tournament championships and subsequent bids to the NCAA Tournament. One of just two players in program history to eclipse career totals of 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, 300 assists and 100 steals, Stamolamprou joins former forward and RMU Athletic Hall of Class of 2019 inductee Artemis Spanou (2010-14) to accomplish the feat. A two-time NEC Tournament Most Valuable Player (MVP), Stamolamprou took home the honor in consecutive years in 2016 and 2017. She is also a four-time All-NEC Tournament Team selection. Stamolamprou, a native of Thessaloniki, Greece, concluded her career with 1,815 points, 633 rebounds, 373 assists and 162 steals and is the program's all-time leader in games started (122) and three-point field goals (283).
