The Robert Morris University men's lacrosse team was one of 42 teams that sat in the barber's chair the weekend of April 2nd to receive a buzzcut. However, this was not just a regular haircut for 21 members of RMU's team.

Each buzzcut represented $1,000 toward cancer research.

This marks the second season that the Colonials have participated in the Lacrosse for Life event, with 23 players participating in 2020. Due to COVID-19, there was no event held in 2021. However, RMU was able to pick right back up in 2022, earning $21,000 for The Sean Fox Fund.

"Our reason for joining was pretty simplistic," said senior defenseman Owen Down, who has now participated twice in the event.

"After hearing about a new charity organization that was offering $1,000 per shaved head, a bunch of teammates jumped on board for the cause. This gave us an opportunity to give back since, as college students, we aren't really in a financial position to donate $1,000. This charity, however, made it possible."

The Hope Street Foundation held it's second Lacrosse for Life head shaving event, which encourages college lacrosse players from all divisions to show support for those suffering from cancer. For the 2022 campaign, The Hope Street Foundation partnered with the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, which donates $1,000 for every head shaved. Additionally, donations will go directly to Sarcoma Center at Dana-Farber and will support The Sean Fox Fund in memory of the former Hobart men's lacrosse student-athlete.
