RMU Edged Out by NKU

Moon Township, Pa. – The Robert Morris University women's soccer program lost to Northern Kentucky, 0-1. RMU is now 10-3-3 overall on the year and 4-3-1 in conference play. The Norse move to 6-3-6 on the season and are 3-2-3 in Horizon League matches.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
In the opening 13 minutes at the North Athletic Complex, both sides gathered some chances, as each team earned two corner kicks and posted two shots to begin the day.

Later in the half, Erykah Cornett of Northern Kentucky was issued a yellow card for a tackle on Elisa Corvalan.

The Norse started to make substitutions after the caution. They subbed out almost all of their field players as they made eight changes on personnel before the end of the first half.

With about five minutes left in the first half, Lilly Yordy of NKU won the ball in her own zone. She found Emma McSwigan in the distance who then played Shannon Crogan into space. Goalkeeper Brenna Murray rushed out of her net to challenge. Emily Rocco hustled back to try and stop the shot but Crogan slid it in to give the Norse the lead before the half ended.

Entering the second half, the Colonials started to push numbers forward and moved Haleigh Finale back into the middle of the park.

In the 63rd minute, Jillian Marvin from distance launched a shot on goal, just going above the crossbar.

Late in the match, Brenna Murray made a key save to keep the Colonials in it. Going the other way, Paloma Swankler and Kaoru Hayashi both cracked a shot on goal, being saved by Mickayla Kowalski.

In the end, NKU held onto their one-goal lead and won the match.

QUOTABLE
"Each team gives us a different look. As a coaching staff you have to sometimes just adjust on the fly. I thought the second half was a completely different game but unfortunately just a little late for us. We'll get ready for IUPUI now this weekend." – Head Coach Chris Shaw
