Opening Faceoff
- The RMU women's hockey program will travel to the center of Pennsylvania to take on Penn State University in a conference series. RMU's first game at Pegula Ice Arena will be on Friday, December 1 at 2:00 p.m. The second game will be played the following day at 1:00 p.m.
- RMU heads back out on the road after playing in the Smashville Showcase down in Nashville, Tenn. The Colonials finished third in the tournament, with a loss to Boston University, 1-3 and Mankato, 1-5.
- Six different players recorded a point down south.
- Previously, at home, the Colonials split a series against RIT. Hosting the Tigers, the Colonials fell the first game, 3-7 and then came back to win the second contest, 3-2.
- Graduate forward Jersey Phillips recorded her first career game-winning goal in the second game.
- Captain Wasyn Rice owns a team-high 28 blocks in 13 games this season.
- Defenseman Allyson Hebert, and forwards Janelle Evans and Madison Primeau hold a team-high +3.

The All-Time Series (Penn State) – Across 38 total games between the two programs, RMU owns a 23-8-7 overall record against the Nittany Lions. The beginning of the rivalry started in the 2012-13 season when Penn State joined the CHA conference. RMU swept PSU for the first four series, winning eight games in a row against the opposing program. They outscored the Nittany Lions, 38-7 during that stretch. Since then, the Colonials have also collected three, four and a five-game win streak in the all-time series. Over the 38 contests, RMU has pounced in 126 goals, averaging 3.32 per game. Through the all-time series, the Colonials have outscored the Nittany Lions, 126-74 along with five shootout victories.

Scouting the Nittany Lions – This past season, Penn State finished with a 27-9-2 overall record and were 14-1-1 in College Hockey America conference games. They went on to win the CHA Tournament Championship, beating Mercyhurst, 2-1 in overtime. Qualifying for the NCAA Tournament, they played a long battle, falling to #8 Quinnipiac, 2-3 in triple OT.

During the current campaign, PSU is 8-7-1 overall and 5-1-1 in conference contests. Along the journey of the non-conference portion of their campaign, the Nittany Lions took on three ranked opponents, all on the road at #3 Colgate, #5 Northeastern and #10 Cornell. PSU's only CHA loss occurred at Mercyhurst (11/17), losing 0-4.

Statistically, sophomore forward Tesse Janecke leads the team in assists and points (5-17—22). She also holds a team-high +14. Forwards Stella Retrum and Mya Vaslet each have cashed in six times in 2023. Defensively, senior Lyndie Lobdell has blocked 28 shots, leading the Nittany Lions in that category. Tending the twine, senior goaltender Josie Bothun has played the majority of the minutes. In the crease this season, she's posted a .897 save percentage and 2.72 G.A.A.

PUDDIFANT POSTS 50
This past weekend at the Smashville Showcase, graduate defenseman Chloé Puddifant reached her 50
th career point with an assist vs. Boston University. From Calgary, Alberta, Puddifant leads all defenseman on the team in points (1-7—8).

HATCH HITS ANOTHER HIGH
Against Minnesota State in Nashville last week, sophomore netminder
Maggie Hatch reached a new personal best, recording 50 saves in one game. In six of her eight starts, she's registered 30 or more saves. On the year, Hatch holds a .919 save percentage. Her performance vs. Mankato are the second-most saves recorded by a CHA goalie this season.

COLONIALS IN THE CHA
Still leading the way in the freshman class,
Alaina Giampietro's seven goals on the year are first among first-year players in the conference and fourth overall in the CHA. She's also sixth in points (14) and sixth in points per game (.88). Graduate forward
Shailynn Snow sits at the top in shot %, scoring six goals on only 18 shots. She heated up in the month of November, scoring four goals and one assist. Forwards
Madison Primeau and
Morgan Giannone each have sniped in the game-winning goal twice in the 2023-24 campaign. That number is the second-most at the moment in the conference. On the backend,
Wasyn Rice's 28 blocked shots are seventh among CHA skaters. As a team, the Colonials have blocked the second-most shots, averaging 13.56 a game. In goal, Hatch's save percentage (.919) is third-best.
