Opening Face-Off
  • RMU begins the 2023 season on the road, driving four hours away to Lewisburg, Pa. come Saturday afternoon. It marks the beginning of the non-conference schedule.
  • Led by Craig McDonald who enters his second year as head coach of the Colonials, RMU returns many key players from a squad that won the 2022 ASUN Championship and a first-round tournament appearance in the NCAA playoff bracket.
  • McDonald owns a 10-6 overall and 4-1 conference record on his resume at RMU.
  • Fifth-year defenseman Owen Down was selected to the ASUN 2023 Preseason All-Conference Team. 
  • According to a poll done by ASUN head coaches, the RMU men's lacrosse team was tabbed to finish third in the conference in 2023.

The All-Time Series (Bucknell) – In program history, the Colonials are 2-2 with the Bison's all-time. These two teams met for the first time back in 2011, as RMU won 7-5. The following year, Bucknell pulled away with a 17-10 win. Back in 2021, in a low-scoring game, the Colonials outlasted the Bison's 8-7 at the final whistle. Current Colonials, Colton Lidstone scored two goals, Taggart Clark scored one and Elliot Holden provided two assists. Defenseman Owen Down led the team in ground balls with five and caused two turnovers. Most recently, RMU dropped a loss at home to Bucknell 14-12 this past season. Taggart Clark led all players on the field in goals with five. Bo Columbus, Colton Lidstone, Elliot Holden, James Leary all scored a goal each and Will Johansen dished out one assist.
 
Overall, RMU is 4-4 all-time against current members of the Patriot League conference. This includes wins against Colgate, Lehigh and Bucknell.
 
Scouting the Bison's – Last season, Bucknell finished 9-6 overall and 3-5 in the Patriot League conference. The Bison's return their top attackmen in Dutch Furlong and Connor Davis. Furlong led the team in points last season with 56 and Davis scored 45 goals with 52 total points. In net, Bucknell brings back Max Nolan who had a team-high six wins along with 47 saves. Rich O'Halloran stopped 89 total shots with a 3-3 record.
 
So far this season, Bucknell has played one regular season game. They opened their year with a win against Mercer (2/4), winning 20-6. Freshman Michael Meyer boasted six goals and one assist. Leading the team in points was Furlong with four goals and six helpers. Connor Davis also added four shots in the back of the net for the Bison's. In week one of the Patriot League awards, Meyer was named Rookie of the Week and Furlong tabbed Offensive Player of the Week.
 
COLONIALS IN THE PROS
Dozens of former Colonials have made their way to the big stage. Since the program began in 2005, RMU has produced professional talent every year in the National, Premier and Major Lacrosse Leagues. The team has five current players that were drafted in the recent 2022 NLL Entry Draft.

WELCOME TO BOBBYMO
Totaling a roster of 46 players, the Colonials brought in some significant talent from across the country and north of the border. Craig McDonald and his staff bring on 12 freshmen going into the 2023 season: Ethan Hecht, Ryan Stiefel, Will MacLeod, Graeme MacLennan, Rowan Hynes, Jackson Foord, Carter Ruhm, Matt Pereira, Kyle McMillan, Sam Colon, Liam Blakely and Matt King.
 
ASUN
2023 is the second year for the Colonials in the ASUN Conference. RMU from 2006-2020 competed in the NEC where they saw success in the form of three conference championships in 2012, 2018 and 2019. In back-to-back years in the 2018-19 season, the Colonials achieved NCAA Tournament appearances. After playing unattached in 2021, RMU men's lacrosse joined the ASUN and won the conference's first ever championship this past season.
