Opening Face-Off
  • The RMU men's lacrosse team stays home to host their second ASUN conference game in a row against Cleveland State on Saturday, March 25th.
  • Last time out, the Colonials lost their first conference game of the season to Jacksonville, 12-6.
  • Junior Liam Keane led the way with two goals and one assist against the Dolphins. Keane has nine points in three games this season.
  • In net, sophomore Nate Randall stopped ten shots.
  • Before conference play started, the Colonials lost to the Panthers of High Point University (3/11), by a score of 16-14.
  • Against the Panthers, attackmen Taggart Clark and David Burr both produced four-point games including three goals each. This was Clark's 13th career hat trick for the Colonials. 12 different players registered a point in High Point, N.C.
  • RMU was tabbed to finish third in the ASUN for the 2023 campaign. Fifth-year defenseman Owen Down was voted Preseason All-Conference by coaches.
  • Head coach Craig McDonald now owns a 13-9 overall record at RMU, and is 4-2 in conference play.

The All-Time Series (Cleveland State) – In four games all-time between these two programs, the Colonials have won every single time. Going back to the 2018 season, RMU has played Cleveland State each season once, excluding the 2020 season. The Colonials have won by five or more goals in all four games. They've outscored the Vikings 61-32.
 
In their most previous contest against Cleveland State, RMU won 19-12. In that game, fifth-year attacker Taggart Clark produced eight points (6G, 2A) which was a career-best. In net, Nate Randall played the whole first half and made 11 saves and scooped up four ground balls. With two great performances, Clark was awarded ASUN Player of the Week, and Randall was tabbed ASUN Defensive Player of the Week. On the day, Colton Lidstone scored two goals and two assists and, Torin Neal sniped in two goals. Johnny Chaisson led the team in ground balls with seven.
 
In the 2021 season, senior Elliot Holden scored two goals and long-stick midfielder Johnny Chaisson once again led the team in ground balls with six, and also caused the most turnovers in the game with four. On April 13th in 2019, Owen Down as a freshman dished out his first career assist against the Vikings. Associate Head Coach Adrian Torok-Orban scored one goal and one assist vs. Cleveland State in a 14-5 win, when he was a senior attacker for the Colonials.
 
Scouting the Vikings – Through five games, Cleveland State currently owns a 3-2 record. They began the year off with two losses to ranked teams in Ohio State and Notre Dame. Since then, the Vikings have pulled ahead with a three-game win streak beating Canisius, St. Bonaventure and their first ASUN game against Lindenwood. Cleveland State boasts three players that are have double digits in point production. Gannon Matthews leads the team with 11 goals and 11 assists. Seniors Ryan Haigh and Brendan Sigurdson both have 10 goals and three assists each to total 13 points. Defensively, sophomore Robbie Brazanskas leads the team in ground balls and caused turnovers with 19 and six. Their face-off specialist is Charlie Williams. The senior from Ohio is 37-for-67 (.552) on face-off's and has scooped up 15 ground balls. In goal, Cleveland State has played four different goalkeepers. The main goalie in net holding the record given in each game is Cameron Logan. In five games, Logan has 61 saves and a .488 save percentage.
