RMU Opens Colonial Relays at William & Mary

Pair of Colonials score Friday in first day of action for RMU

Moon Township, Pa. – The RMU women's track & field team continued its 2023 outdoor season Friday, opening the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, Pa., at Zable Stadium at Cary Field on the campus of William & Mary. The Colonials own 14 points through 12 events scored, which is tied for ninth with Rider.
 
TEAM LEADER
The host Tribe racked up 97.5 points through 12 events of the Colonial Relays to lead the field, 45 points ahead of Bucknell (52.5). Rounding out the top five is Brown (51), Columbia (38) and Shippensburg (23). New Hampshire sits sixth with 16 points, followed by Hampton and Stony Brook (15 points each).
 
SCORING
Fifth-year Tara Gologram claimed silver Friday in the long jump at the Colonial Relays, posting a distance of 5.74 meters (18'10") on her second attempt of the event. She trailed only Lauren Yeboah-Kodie of Brown, who recorded a leap of 5.86 meters (19'2.75"). Also competing for RMU in the long jump was senior Lauren Chappell, who logged a leap of 4.95 meters (16'3"), also on her second attempt.
 
SCORING PART DEUX

Senior Elicia Moore clocked in at 1:03.54 in the 400-meter hurdles to earn bronze for RMU. Anjoli Mathew of Brown took home the individual crown at 1:02.29, while Columbia's Tess Darnell finished second at 1:02.95. Moore sits second in the Horizon League in the event after her performance Friday. Freshman Lindsey Martineau also competed for the Colonials in the 400-meter hurdles, posting a time of 1:09.60.
 
THE NEXT EPISODE

Sophomore Frances Kabana claimed a top 10 finish for RMU in the 1,500-meter, closing at 4:47.10 to finish seventh. Five seconds separated the top 12 student-athletes in the event, with Kabana shaving over six seconds off her previous performance in the 1,500-meter last weekend the Carnegie Mellon Invitational.
 
SPEED RACER

Maddie Raymond garnered the top time for the Colonials in the 100-meter dash, posting a time of 12.08 seconds. Thanks to the performance the sophomore moved into second place among #HLTF leaders. Sophomore Hannah McDanel finished with a time of 12.56 seconds in the same event for RMU while also recording a time of 26.06 seconds in the 200-meter dash. Junior Gracie Parker crossed the finish line for the Colonials in the 200-meter dash at 25.19.
 
FIELD HAPPENINGS

Sophomore Zoee Gologram claimed fifth in the javelin Friday thanks to a distance of 32.65 meters (107'1") while also recording a toss of 32.56 meters (106'10") in the hammer throw. The top mark in the hammer for RMU came courtesy of senior Alijah Caul, who finished sixth at 41.72 meters (136'10"), while junior Madelyn Resciniti posted a heave of 40.26 meters (132'1").
 
UP NEXT
RMU concludes the Colonial Relays Saturday, April 2, with track events slated to begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by field events at 10:00 a.m. from Zable Stadium at Cary Field.
